The V International Conference on Combating Infectious Diseases is finished


On December 13, 2024, the two-day V International Conference on Сombating Infectious Diseases finished its work at the Presidential Library (St. Petersburg, 3 Senatskaya Square). The conference was organized by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) in order to strengthen international cooperation, develop scientific exchange and increase the national potential of partner countries in combating infectious diseases.

The conference brought together more than 330 participants from 26 countries - representatives of government agencies, the scientific community, epidemiologists, virologists, bacteriologists, immunologists, biologists, doctors, information technology specialists, etc. Delegations from the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eastern Europe, Central and Southeast Asia, Africa and South America, as well as representatives of international organizations took part in it.

During two plenary sessions, 10 breakout sessions and a round table, 104 reports were presented. Experts from various fields presented the latest achievements in synthetic biology, genomic and information technologies, artificial intelligence and big data technologies. Particular attention was paid to the use of these tools in epidemiological surveillance. Delegates shared their experience in countering new and recurring infectious threats, highlighted the successes and problems of combating natural focal, vaccine-preventable and respiratory infections, viral hepatitis, HIV and antimicrobial resistance. The results of international cooperation in these areas were presented both at the regional level and on a global scale. Following the work of the Conference, a Resolution was adopted.
