27 Ноября 2024

On November 4-15, 2024, Vsevolod Skvoroda, Junior Researcher, Viral Hepatitis Laboratory, and Nikita Zotkin, Doctor of Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Molecular Genetic Diagnostics Laboratory, conducted research work on the topic "Improving serological and molecular genetic monitoring of hepatotropic viruses" at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) of the Republic of Burundi (Bujumbura, Republic of Burundi).

During the work, an assessment of hepatitis A, B, C and E markers prevalence  in the conditionally healthy population of the country was made. Studies of biomaterial from various groups of patients were carried out (1200 analyzes were conducted). As recommendations, Russian scientists propose to continue collecting biomaterial samples from the conditionally healthy population;  increase the sample in three age groups (up to one year, 1-2 years and people over 60 years old); organize the collection of samples from patients with chronic hepatitis B and C and high-risk groups (healthcare workers, detainees, people who use injection drugs, blood donors). The mission program was fully implemented.
