Scientists of the Institute participated in the FEMS Conference on microbiology in Belgrade

The FEMS Conference on Microbiology was held in a hybrid format in Belgrade, Serbia from June 30 to July 2, 2022. The conference organizer is the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), which includes three Russian societies working in the field of general, soil and clinical microbiology and antimicrobial chemotherapy.

The conference addressed topical issues of microbiology, immunology, phytopathology, drug resistance, biotechnology and bioinformatics of emerging and other pathogens. The conference was attended by 800 (including 125 online) researchers, graduate students and students from 65 countries. Seventy plenary and oral presentations and 550 posters were presented. The conference was attended by researchers of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics: Igor Mokrousov (oral report "Highly resistant and hypervirulent strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, emerging in Russia: phylogenomics and pathobiology"), Anna Vyazovaya (poster "Molecular epidemiology of tuberculosis in the Arkhangelsk region in northern Russia: twenty years later"), and Alena Gerasimova (poster "Molecular characterization of strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis from patients with HIV-associated tuberculosis in Russia").

The next annual FEMS conferences are planned in Hamburg, Germany (2023) and Tallinn, Estonia (2024).
