Saint-Petersburg Pasteur Institute has developed a unique skin test “CoronaDerm PS” to assess the presence (or absence) of cellular immunity to SARS-CoV-2. The result can be assessed after 72 hours by the diameter of the papule. The following method doesn’t require an expensive laboratory equipment and reagents. This injectable preparation, containing an antigen to SARS-CoV-2, is created to assess T-cell immunity using a skin test instead of the expensive IFN-γ ELISPOT assay. The testing procedure resembles the well-known Mantoux tuberculin skin test used more than 120 years to diagnose TB infection.
The second phase of clinical trials of the CoronaDerm PS skin test has already begun.
