Scientists of the Institute presented their results at the World Microbe Forum

25 Июня 2021

The World Microbe Forum was held from 21 to 24 June 2021 in an interactive online format. The Forum brought together the annual congresses of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), which were joined by 9 regional scientific societies from Asia, Africa, South America and Australia, as well as the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.

The Congress hosted more than 500 sessions dedicated to advanced interdisciplinary research in microbiology, with the participation of scientists from 115 countries.

A wide range of issues were considered, from emerging infectious pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2, to antimicrobial resistance, the role of microbes in climate change, agriculture and food microbiology, to synthetic and applied microbiology. In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, active researchers, industry professionals, students, graduate students, educators and world leaders have turned obstacles into opportunities, looking for innovative ways to respond to the greatest challenges of our time and advance science.

The head of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics Igor Mokrousov made a presentation "Potentially Emerging Problem of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Bedaquiline Resistance". Senior scientist from the same laboratory Anna Vyazovaya presented results of the study supported by the Russian Science Foundation (grant 19-15-00028) "Molecular Characteristics of Multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis In Northwestern Russia".
