On October 5-26, 2024, Dr. Olga Kalinina, Head, Laboratory of molecular epidemiology and evolutionary genetics, and junior researcher of the laboratory Evgeniya Lichnaya conducted at the Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center in Hanoi (Vietnam), leading researcher of the laboratory of molecular epidemiology and evolutionary genetics of the Institute the next stage of research "Sero- and molecular-epidemiological monitoring of viral hepatitis" within the framework of the Federal project "Sanitary shield - health safety (prevention, detection, response)".
In cooperation with Vietnamese colleagues, an expedition was organized and implemented to the northern province of Lao Cai on the border with China to collect biological material from indigenous people belonging to various ethnic minorities. Research on the prevalence of viral hepatitis in this province was performed, genomes of hepatitis B and C viruses were isolated to study the genotypic structure of the population of these viruses. The further working plan of the planned thesis research was discussed with Bui Thi Thanh Nga, PhD.
During the meeting with the leaders of the Tropical Medicine Institute, which is part of the Joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Research and Technology Center in Hanoi, plans for further joint research were discussed.
