On October 21-24, 2024, Dr. Areg Totolian, Director, St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute, and Dr. Vladimir Dedkov, Deputy Director for Research, took part in the annual Meeting of the Leaders of Pasteur Network in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), along with the General Assembly of the Pasteur Network member institutes.
Russian scientists and their colleagues took part in a number of plenary sessions: "Climate Change and Infectious Diseases: Insights on Dengue Research Across the Pasteur Network" (this round table session focused on discussion of climate change and human health, using Dengue fever as a case study), "Insights on Collaborating to Address Epidemics and Pandemics" (A Focus on Mpox, Avian Influenza, etc.), "Advancing Vaccine Equity: A Dialogue on WHO mRNA Hubs in the Pasteur Network" (researchers from the Network discussed how mRNA could improve vaccine equity and presenting the status of their local mRNA vaccine programmes), etc.
Within the framework of the Conference, a Roadmap for interaction between the St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute and the Pasteur Institute in Iran was agreed upon within the framework of the scientific cooperation agreement concluded by the parties in 2022.
Cooperation of the Pasteur Institute of St. Petersburg with Pasteur Network, which today includes 33 institutes from more than 20 countries, facilitates the participation of the Russian side in multi-center projects on microbiological, epidemiological, virological and immunological problem.
