On June 14-28, 2024, Regina Baimova and Eric Khalilov, junior researchers at the zooanthroponotic infections laboratory of at Saint-Petersburg Pasteur Institute conducted scientific research at the Russian-Guinea laboratory (Kindia, Republic of Guinea) in the field of  “Study of the etiology of fevers of unknown origin in the Republic of Guinea” in course of extraterritorial monitoring of infectious threats in the Republic of Guinea within the framework of the federal project “Country’s sanitary shield - health safety (prevention, detection, response).”

During the mission, 627 samples obtained from febrile patients were examined. The samples were examined by ELISA method for the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies to Leptospira and by PCR tests for the presence of DNA of Coxiella burnetii and Leptospira spp. Antibodies to Leptospira of the IgM class were detected in 143 samples (22.8%). Antibodies to leptospira of the IgG class were detected in 298 samples (47.5%). Coxiella burnetii DNA was detected in 4 samples (0.63%). Leptospira spp DNA was detected in 2 samples (0.31%).
