From June 17 to 19, 2024, the Instituted received a delegation from the People's Republic of China: Prof. Jing Bi, Deputy Director of Baoding Children's Hospital and Prof. Adong Shen, head of laboratory of the the same hospital, as well as researchers from Beijing Children's Hospital Dr. Weiwei Jiao and Xue Tian.
During a meeting with Chinese colleagues Deputy Director for Innovation Svetlana Egorova informed about the international scientific and practical cooperation of the institute, and the preparation of joint scientific projects in the field of the key pathogens of significant mutual interest (tuberculosis, helicobacteriosis, non-tuberculous mycobacteria) was discussed. Chinese colleagues visited laboratory of molecular epidemiology and evolutionary genetics (Igor Mokrousov, Anna Vyazovaya, Alena Gerasimova) and laboratory for pathogen identification (Alena Svarval, Daria Starkova), discussed directions and prospects of research, and exchanged experience in microbiological and molecular studies.
In 2023, St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute and Baoding Children's Hospital have signed a bilateral agreement on scientific cooperation on the topic: “Molecular analysis of infectious pathogens”. Fruitful scientific collaboration on tuberculosis between the Beijing Children's Hospital and Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Evolutionary Genetics has been ongoing since 2005 (22 articles in international journals), and a joint project is currently being implemented with the support of scientific foundations in Russia and China (project co-directors Igor Mokrousov and Adong Shen).
