Dr. Vladimir Dedkov took part in a Pasteur Network Governing Bodies Meetings in Senegal


On June 2 to June 6, 2024, Dr. Vladimir Dedkov, Deputy Director for Research of St. Petersburg Pasteur Institute, took part in a Pasteur Network Governing Bodies Meetings, in the Conference on Climate and Health, and the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Pasteur Institute in Dakar (Senegal).

The working meetings of the participants focused mainly on four main areas of work of the Pasteur network institutes, with a special emphasis on combating the climate crisis:

  1. Epidemic Preparedness and Intelligence with a focus on Climate sensitive diseases: addressing emerging health challenges through surveillance and research.
  2. Research and Development and Innovation ecosystem: advancing scientific understanding and technological innovation in public health and biomedicine.
  3. Knowledge Communities: fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and global knowledge exchange and enhancing expertise to empower the next generation of scientific leaders.
  4. Good Governance and Equity: ensuring effective, equitable governance structures and practices, emphasizing financial equity and sustainable operations.

Based on the results of the Conference on Climate and Health, key priorities for further development were identified, including: coordinating the development of a “global goods” strategy within the Pasteur Network; identification of exemplary institutions and fellowship groups; development of “business in a box” tools based on collective learning, etc.
